Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2021

On this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, let us all stop and reflect on the personal and collective responsibility that we have to honor Dr. King’s legacy and his enduring fight for justice for all people.

The events of this past year laid bare the lasting horror and injustice that too many of our fellow citizens are forced to grapple with daily due to the scourges of systemic racism and white supremacy. The stain that hundreds of years of racism have left on the soul of our nation has been revealed.

This new year offers us a path forward if we open our hearts and minds. We have clarity on how much further we must go together to realize Dr. King’s dream. My hope is that this is a watershed moment, inspiring all of us to stand up and lock arms in the fight for justice. As Dr. King once said, “We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history there is such a thing as being too late.”

Let’s sincerely honor the legacy of Dr. King by standing up to injustice and intolerance, anywhere and everywhere.
